Terms of Service

Effective October 23, 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and PreceptorScout when you use preceptorscout.com and the PreceptorScout dashboard. They are written to be read, not skimmed. If anything here is unclear, write to hello@preceptorscout.com before you buy.

1. What PreceptorScout is

PreceptorScout is a search and tracking tool for NP and PA students who are looking for clinical preceptors. We index publicly available professional information about clinicians, rank it with our Likelihood Rating, and give you contact details, outreach scripts and a tracker. You do the outreach. The clinician decides.

What PreceptorScout is not. We are not a placement, matching or staffing service. We do not arrange, broker or guarantee a preceptor, a rotation or a graduation date. We do not pay clinicians to precept and we never ask clinicians to pay us. We are not affiliated with any school, program, health system or licensing board.

2. Who can use it

You must be at least 18 years old and enrolled in, or admitted to, a nurse practitioner, physician associate or similar clinical program, or be a clinical coordinator or faculty member buying on a program's behalf. One account belongs to one person. Keep your login private and tell us at once if you think someone else is using it.

3. Buying names

Prices are shown in US dollars at checkout, which is handled by Stripe. We do not see or store your card number. Prices can change; a change never affects something you already bought. Refunds are covered by the Refund Policy.

4. How names are released

Names are released in batches of 30. The next batch opens after you log outcomes on most of the current batch or after 14 days, whichever comes first. Each rotation request is capped at 120 names, each account at 90 new names per week, and a pass holder may keep 3 rotation requests open at a time. Names you receive are reserved for you for 30 days. These rules keep every list strong and keep any one clinician from being contacted by a crowd of students. We may substitute a name of similar rating when a clinician has reached capacity, has asked not to be contacted, or has been placed for the rotation window.

5. How you may use the names

The names, contact details, ratings and scripts are licensed to you for one purpose: your own search for a clinical preceptor. You agree that you will not:

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules, with no refund for the part of a purchase already used.

6. Accuracy of the data

Clinician information comes from the National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES) and other public sources, enriched with signals we compute and with outcomes that students log. We refresh it monthly. Registries go stale, clinicians move, and phone numbers change, so a record can be out of date. The Likelihood Rating is an estimate built from public signals and logged outcomes. It is not a promise about any clinician. Verify before you rely on a record, and tell us when something is wrong so we can fix it for everyone.

7. The tracker, outcomes and ratings

When you log a call, a reply or an end-of-rotation rating, you give us a worldwide, royalty-free license to use that information to run and improve the service, including to adjust ratings and lists for other students in aggregated or de-identified form. Ratings are structured answers, not free-text reviews. We do not publish negative ratings of any clinician. Log only what is true.

8. Clinicians

If you are a clinician whose public professional record appears in our index, you may ask us to suppress it at any time using the removal form. We act on removal requests within one business day and the record stays suppressed for every student.

9. Our property

The service, its design, its software, the Likelihood Rating and the scripts belong to PreceptorScout and are protected by copyright and other laws. These terms give you a license to use the service, not ownership of anything in it. The PreceptorScout name and logo are our trademarks.

10. No warranty

The service is provided as is and as available. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that any clinician will respond, agree to precept, or be accepted by your program, or that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

11. Limit on our liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, PreceptorScout and the people who run it are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost opportunity, lost time, delayed graduation, or lost tuition, arising from the service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. Some states do not allow these limits, so some may not apply to you.

12. Your responsibility to others

You agree to cover us against claims, losses and reasonable legal costs that come from your breach of these terms or from the way you contact clinicians.

13. Ending the agreement

You can close your account at any time from your dashboard or by writing to us. We can suspend or close an account for a breach of these terms, for abuse of clinicians, or where the law requires it. Sections 5 through 12 survive closure.

14. Changes

We update these terms when the service changes. We post the new version here with a new effective date and, for changes that matter, email account holders at least 14 days before they take effect. Using the service after that date means you accept the new terms.

15. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wisconsin, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Any dispute that cannot be resolved by talking it through will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Wisconsin, and you consent to their jurisdiction. Where the law allows, each side waives the right to a jury trial and to bring or join a class action.
